OH YEAH, THE CHIEFS ARE BACK.......

The Chiefs have turned the corner after a disappointing 2006/2007 season.

After last week-end’s very close win against The Devils, the players turned up for today’s game feeling slightly apprehensive.   However, after a team talk by coach Ray who assured players that all that was expected was that everyone played to the best of their ability and a win would be a bonus.  With this in mind, the team took to the court.

Despite the absence of Heino, Stu, Jevon and Phil and Mathew there in body only (think he left his spirit at Mandella Hall last night!!!) and looking like something out of “Shaun of the Dead”, we put up a very impressive performance against Blaze.  The score at the end of this action packed game was Chiefs 8 – Blaze 2.  Although, the Chiefs dominated most of the match, there were a few hairy moments near our goal a couple of times in the second half.

Man of the match has to be Keith who was on top form scoring a massive 4 goals.  Darren managed to get 2 pass the goalie (thanks to Rado’s assists), Ruben got a sneaky one into the back of the net as did Rado.  Arnie was also on top form and made some excellent saves venturing out of the crease on a couple of occasions.  However, what was evident was that every single player – Arnie, Steven, Rado, Adam, Darren, Ruben, The Ray, Joe, Keith and even Matthew  kept their heads, held their positions and played as a team.  Bad luck Steven whose slap shot ricocheted off the top pipe as well as Adam, Joe and Ray who had a few near misses.  Also worth a mention is the fact that the team only incurred two penalties, both questionable, throughout the game.

Catch phrase of the day was Steven’s,”Simmer down now”, which seemed to work when players (The Ray) were getting overly agitated!!!

Well done everyone!!!!  C’mon Chiefs!!!!
